Fire at aged care home

CFA units attended a Moorabool aged care home last week, after a fire started in the roof of a building.
Local CFA units were called to the scene at the mecwacare Residential Aged Care building last Wednesday afternoon, with residents being evacuated from the site.
A CFA spokesperson said the fire was quickly put out, with residents able to return soon after units arrived.
“CFA responded to reports of a roof fire in Ballan at around 2.06 pm on 8 March. Three CFA units from Ballan fire brigade attended,” the CFA spokesperson told the Moorabool News.
“The fire was extinguished by 2.18 pm and residents returned inside the building. The incident was declared safe by 2.45pm and WorkSafe was notified.”
CFA did not provide comment on how the fire started.
mecwacare was contacted for comment on the incident, but did not respond by the Moorabool News’ deadline for print.
