An emergency foodbank has been awarded an extra boost to help continue their good work in the Bacchus Marsh community, celebrated at a recent presentation night (pictured).
Not-for-profit organisation, the Bacchus Marsh Neighbour’s Place, was presented with a $5,500 grant by local Freemason organisation, Duke of Abercorn Lodge on Tuesday, 9 April, to continue helping those in the Moorabool Shire that are in need of emergency food relief.
Duke of Abercorn Lodge Secretary, David Dickson, said the Neighbour’s Place was chosen “as many lodge members are also members of the local churches who sponsor the Neighbour’s Place,” and since the Neighbour’s Place is “sometimes left out of state and local funding,” thought the organisation would be a suitable choice.
Duke of Abercorn Lodge has contributed to other community organisations, including Girl Guides and the local hospital, and donations are often matched by the Freemason Foundation.
The Neighbour’s Place aims to help those in the community who are disadvantaged, at risk or temporarily unable to feed themselves or their family, and are in need of emergency food relief.
A spokesperson for the Neighbour’s Place said the grant is expected to help the upkeep the organisation’s foodbank, including buying and distributing food, and for minor renovations of the store building.
The Neighbour’s Place is located at 77 Main Street Bacchus Marsh Victoria. More information can be found at http://www.neighboursplace.org.au/.
