Kicking goals: The Country Football and Netball Program has delivered over 575 projects to the tune of more than $40 million since 2005.

APPLICATIONS are now open for major grants to improve the facilities of regional and outer metropolitan netball and football clubs, including upgrading court lighting, overhauling change rooms and building new pavilions, plus establishing projects that result in energy or water efficiency.

The cash up to $250,000 has become available through the State Government’s Country Football and Netball Program, which has put in more than $40 million and delivered over 575 projects since 2005.

AFL Victoria head Greg Madigan said good facilities are pivotal to ensuring people can participate in and enjoy the game of Australian rules footy at all levels.

“AFL Victoria thanks the Victorian Government for its ongoing support of community sport in regional areas through the Program, which allows local clubs and communities to benefit from facilities that are welcoming, inclusive and bring people together,” he said.

Netball Victoria CEO Andrea Pearman said sport is the lifeblood of regional communities.

“We thank the Victorian Government for their support in delivering safer, more inclusive netball facilities right across the state,” she said.

“We know how important community sport is in fostering connection, and this program means more opportunities for more Victorians to participate in our game.”

Applications close on Monday 30 September. For further information, visit sport.vic.gov.au/funding/country-football-and-netball-program.
