Future construction leaders recognised

MASTER Builders Victoria’s Regional Apprentice Awards were held in Ballarat last week with three local apprentices recognised.

The awards ceremony was one of five across the state with others held in the Gippsland, North East, South East and Bendigo regions.

The Ballarat Chairperson’s award went to Mitchell Walsh from Ballarat North for his persistence, skill and dedication to his work.

He is employed by Anderson Builders and fourth year carpentry apprentice.

Tyson Strachan from Warrenheip won the Apprentice of the Year Ballarat – Future Builder award.

Mr Strachan is also a fourth-year carpentry apprentice and is employed by Josh Ryan Carpentry.

The final award, Apprentice of the Year Ballarat – Developing Leader Award went to Devon Orr, also a fourth-year carpentry apprentice.

Mr Orr works for Stuart Allen Building.

Master Builders Victoria CEO, Michaela Lihou, congratulated all the award recipients and nominees.

“I was delighted to attend these awards and it was wonderful to see firsthand the energy and excitement, these apprentices bring to their work and the futures they can see for themselves in our industry,” she said.

“My sincerest congratulations to all of the nominees and the winners.”
