MOORABOOL Shire Council staff are looking for local groups or organisations to host activities for this year’s Victorian Seniors Festival. The annual program held in October is designed to celebrate ageing and bring residents over 60 together.

Groups can host large or small events such as come and try days, workshops, cultural activities or fitness classes. Low or no cost activities are encouraged.

“The Victorian Seniors Festival celebrates positive ageing and encourages older residents to have fun, try something new, and enjoy meaningful connections within their community,” Moorabool Shire mayor Cr Paul Tatchell said.

“This year, council will host the Connecting Communities: Moorabool Seniors Expo 2025 on Friday 3 October from 11 am to 1 pm at the Bacchus Marsh Public Hall, and in an exciting first, Moorabool will also be part of the Seniors Festival Country Concert Tour, with a live performance at the Bacchus Marsh Public Hall on Thursday 9 October at 11 am.”

Last year, more than 540 attendees took part in events in towns such as Bacchus Marsh, Ballan, Gordon and Bungaree. Some events included a morning tea hosted by Bacchus Marsh Ladies Probus and a Devonshire tea by CWA Bacchus Marsh.

A small pool of funding is available to support community groups. Registrations close on Monday 3 August and can be made on the Moorabool Shire Council website or by calling 5366 7100.
