CELEBRATE the beginning of the Big Summer Readathon with launch parties at Ballan and Lerderderg Libraries.
Held from 3.30pm until 4.30pm on Monday 1 December in Bacchus Marsh and Tuesday 2 December in Ballan, attendees can collect a Big Summer Readathon entry form and take part in creative activities such as aqua beads, seashell painting, and watercolour bookmark making.
“As well as being able to pick up a readathon form for the big summer read, there will be craft activities and painting,” Cr Paul Tatchell said.
The big summer read is held annually from 1 December to 31 January and is open to anyone aged under 18.
Children are asked to read at least 10 books over the period to go in the draw to win a prize.
“The big summer read is a fantastic statewide initiative and it’s great to see Moorabool Shire take part and encourage our young residents to get reading,” Cr Tatchell said.
“We encourage all school-aged kids to take part as there are great prizes to be won for those who read the most.”
Light snacks will be provided and bookings aren’t required.
