Grants for grassroots sport and rec
SPORTING clubs in the Moorabool region are set to benefit from the latest round of the State Government’s Sporting Club Grants Program.
Bacchus Marsh Pony Club, Elaine Cricket Club, Pentland Calisthenics College, and Bacchus Marsh BMX Club are just some of the recipients of the grants which exist to cover the cost of coach, official and volunteer training, equipment, uniforms, community engagement and more.
“This program is always popular amongst Melton clubs and athletes, as it’s supporting them to have what they need to take part in the sports they love,” said the Member for Melton, Steve McGhie.
Member for Eureka Michaela Settle said the grants promote and support grassroots groups and active recreation, while helping them attract and retain a skilled volunteer and paid workforce, increasing the equity, diversity, and inclusiveness of clubs.
Minister for Community Sport Ros Spence said 875 grants worth $1.2 million in total have been allocated to 740 clubs across Victoria.
“This is a major boost for clubs across the state. We’re making sure clubs have the skills andequipment they need to thrive, and get more people involved,” said Ms Spence.
“We want our local sporting clubs to be backing the next generation of local champions, and these grants provide them the chance to do just that.”
