GREASE – the word is out
It was a time when Elvis was King and hula hoops, diners, jukeboxes and drive-in movies were all the rage.
Bacchus Marsh is set to transport back to the 1950s from this weekend for the Performing Arts Headquarters’ production of everyone’s favourite musical, Grease.
Responsible for last year’s highly acclaimed We Will Rock You, the community theatre company is set to wow audiences with a live 13-piece rock band, spectacular sound and lighting, a cast of over 50 singers, actors and dancers, dazzling costumes and all the fun, attitude, angst and toe-tappin’ rock ‘n’ roll music that is synonymous with this 1950s inspired musical.
Regardless of when you last saw the movie, it’s always a good time to relive the story of Grease.
PAHQ’s family-friendly production will feature all the classic songs from the stage musical, as well as the iconic and beloved songs made famous by the 1978 movie version starring John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John, including ‘Grease Is The Word’, ‘Hopelessly Devoted To You’, ‘Greased Lightning’, ‘We Go Together’ and ‘You’re The One That I Want’.
Audiences attending the matinee and evening performances on Saturday, 14 September are also encouraged to dust off their blue jeans, leather jackets, poodle skirts, bobby socks and letterman jackets to attend in classic 1950s attire.
PAHQ’s production of ‘Grease: The Musical’ will be held at the Impresario Theatre, Bacchus Marsh from 24 August to 15 September.
