Have your say on renewable plans

VICGRID is changing the way energy infrastructure is delivered in Victoria, and it wants to hear from Moorabool residents.

VicGrid is hosting a drop-in session and a community workshop in Ballan on Tuesday 14 May, and is inviting residents to attend for a discussion on how the changes will affect Moorabool Shire.

Staff will be discussing the Victorian Transmission Plan, a long-term strategic plan that aims to ensure the state has “the right infrastructure in the right place at the right time, to support the energy transition”.

In particular, VicGrid says it wants to know “the benefits you’d like to see for regions which may host new renewable energy infrastructure”.

The results of the recent Renewable Energy Planning Survey will also be shared, and how it will help VicGrid plan where to build and host renewable energy transmission, generation, and storage projects will be discussed.

The community workshops and drop-ins form Phase 1 of developing the first Victorian Transmission Plan, with Phase 2 being the sharing of draft Renewable Energy Zone Priority Areas for feedback midway through this year.

A draft plan is scheduled to be shared in early 2025 (Phase 3), and publishing the final plan is set to occur in mid-2025 (Phase 4).

Next Tuesday’s drop-in session will be held from 3pm to 5pm at Ballan Neighbourhood House at 143 Inglis Street, Ballan.

The community workshop session will be held in the same location from 6pm to 7.30pm, with attendees required to register online.
