Fires in landfills, tyre stockpiles, e-waste, and metal recycling are preventable. Let’s work together to keep Victoria safe.

Many things we do at work can cause pollution and create waste. Common hazards in waste and recycling include:

– Air contamination
– Chemical spills
– Dust
– Fire and explosion
– Odour
– Noise
– Pathogens
– Stormwater contamination
– Waste
– Wastewater

You must minimise the risks of harm from pollution and waste. It is the law. Use this simple four-step process to help you assess and manage your risks:

1. Identify hazards
2. Assess risks
3. Implement controls
4. Check controls
