The Australian Museum’s scientists need your help during FrogID Week, with everyday Aussies able to help conserve frogs just by taking part in a quick count.

FrogID Week runs from 11 – 20 November, and is the biggest frog count in Australia. To date it has received over 474,000 calls, around 750,000 verified frogs, and has found 211 species.

To take part, simply download the free FrogID app and record any frog calls you hear during FrogID Week. The app also allows you to compare the call you heard with the calls of different frog species, so you can find out which frog species you heard.

This is an especially important time to gather data on frog populations, as sadly thousands of frogs from over 40 species died this winter, which the Australian Museum Herpetology team is working to find the cause of.

Your FrogID submissions will help understand what impact this mortality event is having on Australia’s frog populations, both now and into the future.
