Is your child safe online?
Police have urged parents to have age-appropriate conversations with their child around online safety, with a spike in reports of online abuse.
Detectives from the Victorian Joint Anti Child Exploitation Team (JACET) – which is comprised of both Victoria Police and Australian Federal Police investigators – are calling on parents to have the chat, as reports from at least 100 families have recently come in.
The reports detail instances where offenders have coerced children, particularly teenage males, into producing explicit images, before extorting them for money.

It doesn’t matter how small or insignificant you may think the information you have is – something that may appear small could later prove vital in an investigation, and stop another child being exploited.
