Let’s look out for wildlife
Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action (DEECA)
With storms and high winds impacting parts of the state, let’s look out for our wildlife.
Wild winds can sometimes nudge fledgling birds off their nests, and it’s perfectly normal for them to spend a few days on the ground, cared for by their parents.
However, if you can’t locate the parents, or the bird is very young, it should be reported.
You can contact the closest wildlife carers and organisations using this tool, or contact Wildlife Victoria on 03 8400 7300.
Remember, wildlife can become disoriented during extreme weather, but if they’re unharmed, please give them the space they need to recover without disturbance.
