LIBERAL candidate for Hawke Simmone Cottom has announced one million dollars in funding to resurface the Ballan Recreation Reserve oval if a Liberal Government is elected at the Federal Election on 3 May.

The funding will also improve drainage at the oval with the aim of improving the park’s usability, safety and accessibility.

“The Ballan Recreation Reserve is a cornerstone of our community, providing a place for families, sports enthusiasts and visitors to gather, play, and enjoy the outdoors,” Ms Cottom said.

“However, it’s time to upgrade the oval to ensure that it continues to meet the needs of our growing community.

“This project will ensure that the Ballan Recreation Reserve remains a vibrant hub for our community, promoting a healthy lifestyle and a stronger connection with nature.”

David Leach, president of Ballan Cricket Club welcomed the announcement and said upgrades to the oval are needed.

“Our current playing surface gets a high volume of traffic all year round, but the playing surface and drainage are in desperate need of an upgrade,” said Mr Leach.

“A large-scale upgrade would mean a greater facility to cater for our growing community”.
