Local art launched
A CHARMING local art gallery has launched its latest exhibition, with around 30 artists and art lovers attending the opening night party.
Gordon Bar Room Gallery launched its latest exhibition on Friday, 12 April, with a party running from 6pm to 8pm.
The night wasn’t just about paintings, sculptures, and other creative crafts – there was also food on offer, and the musical stylings of The Gordon Gypsies.
Local artist Jane Gardner said it was fantastic to have a space for artists from Gordon and surrounds to display their work and connect.
“It was a wonderful evening with lots of happy people enjoying the launch of the exhibition. I think it was just a really good way to connect community, with the backdrop of that lovely creative environment,” Ms Gardner said.
“The exhibition was very well-received, and there were a couple of sales, which was great. Lots of extended family members and friends attended, and we had some great support from the Gordon’s at Gordon next door, who provided food and champagne.
“The Gordon Gypsies braved the elements playing on the verandah; they were outstanding. It was very cold, but they rugged up and put on a great show for us.”
The Bar Room Gallery is a relatively new development, and Ms Gardner encourages anyone with contributions to get in touch.
“We’re always open to welcoming new artists, potters, craftspeople, and more. They can call in one Saturday and introduce themselves if they’d like,” she said.
“Being around art puts everyone in a good mood, and we’re really happy to be a part of that.”
