Expert skin therapist and small business owner Lisa McAuliffe has headed back into the classroom, adding another qualification to her long list.

The mum of two has completed a certificate IV in Training and Assessment at The Gordon, marking a new chapter in her 23-year career in the beauty industry.

Ms McAuliffe started her career with a diploma of Beauty Therapy and has continued to develop her skills.

“I first graduated from beauty therapy studies at The Gordon in 2000 and became an industry leader with a loyal list of clients,” she said.

“Looking back, I often discussed my intentions to explore opportunities of Vocational and Educational Training (VET) with my colleagues.”

The certificate is designed to equip professionals with skills to train and assess in vocational education settings.

“I have a passion for quality education and I’m looking forward to beginning my new pathway in providing exceptional training, by sharing my skills and knowledge,” Ms McAuliffe said.

Her new qualifications will allow her to contribute to the beauty therapy field in a new way, understanding the importance of staying current.

Ms McAuliffe said she’s always attended training to enhance her skills and learn the latest advancements in the industry.

“Considering the challenges I have conquered, and as a ‘mature-aged’ student, it is extremely rewarding to be able to empower others as an educator, when they are experiencing self-doubt.”

The beauty therapists’ achievements haven’t gone unnoticed, recently honoured as a recipient of an Excellence Award within The Gordon’s business and Technology category.

“She is a positive role model with a passion for teaching and unwavering commitment to learning and excellence who will positively impact her future students,” Training and Assessment teacher, Chris Blanch said.

Applications to study at The Gordon next year are open now.
