Mental health support for farmers

November 19, 2022 BY

Farmers, have you been taking care of yourselves during the recent floods? Services are available to help you with any mental health struggles.

People tend to exist in a survival state during emergencies, worrying only about getting through the incident – but this uses up considerable emotional reserves.

It’s important to take some time to take care of yourself, especially if you’ve been working hard for long periods, and/or missing meals and sleep.

Agriculture Victoria encourages farmers to learn how to recognise the signs of stress, and reach out for support if you need it.

There are a range of health support agencies and professionals waiting to help if you need it, including Parentline (13 22 89), the Kids Helpline (1800 55 1800), Nurse-On-Call (1300 60 60 24), and the Australian Psychological Society Referral Service (1800 333 497).
