A new Christmas-themed Australia Post advertisement has hit the small screen this month, with a couple of locations familiar to Moorabool featured.

Australia Post’s annual ‘Spread the Merry’ campaign launched on 6 November, with a video created by The Monkeys showing an inflatable Santa blowing away from home across Australia.

On his journey, the inflatable Santa passes the Ballan Bowling Club, where the Club’s Secretary, Michael Conroy, is playing bowls in a Santa-themed outfit.

Later, it is deflated by a collision with a wind turbine, and ends up on the ground in front of the Ballan Post Office, before being delivered back to its owner by Australia Post.

Australia Post Chief Marketing Officer, Amber Collins, said the campaign is all about creating a sense of joy, and demonstrates that no matter where you are, the Australia Post team and network can help reconnect you with your loved ones this Christmas.

“We could all use an added dose of merry, and our new Spread the Merry campaign perfectly brings together a feeling of fun, wonder and surprise. All of us at Australia Post are proud to be responsible for delivering parcels and cards full of joy right across Australia this festive season,” Ms Collins said.

The ad began airing on television on 6 November, and the campaign will also be supported by radio and out-of-home advertising, including a 3D billboard in Melbourne’s CBD going up on 21 November.

The campaign also includes an audio described version of the commercial for the visually impaired, and an Auslan version for the hearing impaired.

“This is the fourth Spread the Merry campaign we’ve made in collaboration with Australia Post, and we’re really proud of how it’s come together,” The Monkeys Chief Creative Officer, Ant Keogh, said.
