Minister to consider MBC application
By Helen Tatchell
It is now common knowledge that Maddingley Brown Coal has submitted a planning scheme amendment to enable the Bacchus Marsh site to receive spoil from the Westgate Tunnel Project.
The Planning Minister will now consider MBCs application under section 20(5) the Planning and Environment Act, after DELWP informed Moorabool Shire Council today.
A Government spokesperson said Council will be invited to review and comment on the Maddingley application.
“Following council’s feedback, the Minister will consider all relevant matters under the planning laws,” they said.
Council will have an opportunity to review technical reports that have been submitted as part of MBCs application and provide further comment
The amendment to the local planning scheme is to allow MBC to receive West Gate Tunnel spoil and to rehabilitate parts of the site that are currently not used for landfill.
Approvals are also required from EPA Victoria for the site to operate.
No decisions have been made.
