THREE projects within Moorabool Shire have received funding as part of the State Government’s Tiny Towns Fund.
Member for Eureka Michaela Settle announced Moorabool Shire Council will receive $37,500 to conduct a feasibility study into a Ballan Cycling Hub and $50,000 for the Lal Lal Falls Reserve master plan.
The Mount Egerton Memorial Park committee received more than $7000 to go towards a park to commemorate those from the district who served in conflicts.
Ms Settle said the initiative is about helping communities across the state to flourish.
“It’s really aimed at making sure our smaller communities can have the things that they want, that they need,” she said.
“What I really love about it is that it’s community driven, so communities can apply for it through Regional Development Victoria for whatever project they think that their town needs.”
Kerryn Taylor of the Mount Egerton Memorial Park committee said the funding will help with stage one of the project.
“It will go a long way to the first part of the memorial park which is to install the names of the soldiers,” she said.
“These names will be on metal boards which will go down towards the rest of the park.
“To get the recognition is great and it helps us to feel that we’re being heard and we’re just as important as everyone else.”
More than 350 projects have been supported through round one and two of the fund, across more than 300 Victorian towns. For more information, visit the Regional Development Victoria website.
