One foot in front of the other more than 1000 times over, will put Bald Hill in Darley on the tourist map, and fitness circuit.
Currently the Kokoda Track Memorial Walk in the Dandenong Ranges National Park, has the 1000 Steps Walk and is an institution for fitness enthusiasts who navigate the 3-kilometre trek. Bayview Park in Narre Warren north went one better with 1001 steps however, Moorabool takes the cake.
Moorabool Shire Council have committed to a minimum of 1000 steps for the project with the incline varied to a range from a gentle incline at the base, to a steeper climb further up the slope.
Bald Hill is an area that was known more for the illegal dumping of rubbish however, it will now become a regional recreation experience catering for a growing population of Bacchus Marsh.
To help with the $860,000 cost, the state government has put their hand in their pocket.
