Mother’s Day stall raises funds for CWA
A LOCAL CWA branch – which includes some of the best mums around – has been hard at work fundraising, in the lead-up to Mother’s Day.
The CWA Bacchus Marsh Day Branch held a Mother’s Day stall at The Village Shopping Centre last Thursday, raising hundreds of dollars for the group.
It was a win-win for the Branch and for locals looking for a bargain, with beautiful jams, baked goods, cookbooks and more on offer at bargain prices.
Raffle tickets were also on sale both at The Village, and at Foodworks the next day, with the grand prize being a hand sewn quilt valued at $400.
Other prizes included a grocery hamper and meat voucher, a dingo encounter voucher, and a Kryal Castle family voucher.
Branch Secretary Kaz Morce said that while there wasn’t one particular project or event the Branch was raising for, worthy causes and ideas often popped up among members.
“CWA Victoria in general raise for one particular charity, but as for us as a Branch we do a bit here and a bit there,” she said.
“We don’t really single out one particular cause, we keep a bit of a pool of funds for things that come up.”
“There was one lady with a very unwell daughter,” said fellow Branch member Gail Sebire.
“They were doing it tough, and we gave them some money towards making sure the daughter could get her operation.
“We do what we can for the local community.”
A total of $281.50 was raised at the Mother’s Day stall, with over 400 raffle tickets sold.
