Neighbourhood House supports Cancer Council with tea and bingo

The Darley Neighbourhood House and Learning Centre is hoping that at least 30 people will participate in the event.
MORNING tea and free bingo will be on the program when the Darley Neighbourhood House and Learning Centre (DNHLC) hosts its annual fundraiser for the Cancer Council on Wednesday 21 May.
The event will take place from 11am at the DNHLC’s Jonathon Drive property and participation will be free.
DNHLC manager Amber Gordon said the morning tea, which has been hosted by the organisation for many years, raised about $135 last year.
Ms Gordon said organisers are hoping that at least 30 people will turn up for this year’s instalment.
She asked that intending participants let the DNHLC know through its Facebook page or website at darleylearning.com for catering purposes.
Ms Gordon said an in-house caller will lead the bingo session but there will be no betting.
“It’s just for a bit of fun,” Ms Gordon said, adding that local businesses and groups are being approached to donate prizes for the bingo component.

Similarly, she said participants will be welcome to make their own donations to the cause on the day.
Ms Gordon said the DNHLC is hoping to raise at least as much as last year’s morning tea.
Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea is one of the Cancer Council’s biggest fundraising events each year.
The official date this year is 22 May but individual hosts can hold their morning tea at any time during May and June. It has raised more than $2 million so far, with 16,850 registered hosts around the country.
