Never to be forgotten

Michael Madden is the Author of ‘The Victoria Cross – Australia Remembers’ book. A unique coffee table compilation comprising of all 96 British or Imperial Victoria Cross recipients and four Victoria Cross for Australia recipients, in total 100 who were awarded for acts of bravery in wartime.
Yet to be printed, it is due for release in March/April 2018 and will mark 100 years since the end of WWI.
Rupert Vance Moon VC from Bacchus Marsh is just one of those 100 VC recipients who will be featured.
Mr Madden attend the unveiling of a paver and sign at Rupert Moon Reserve on May 6, then the seat dedication outside the Bacchus Marsh RSL.
“This is all part of our continued research for the book and anyone that may be directly, or indirectly related to one of the 100 VC recipients, can contact me on email – [email protected]”, he said.
The British Victoria Cross and the Victoria Cross for Australia is awarded to a person who, in the presence of the enemy, displays the most conspicuous gallantry, or daring or pre-eminent act of valour or self-sacrifice or extreme devotion to duty.
Mr Madden said ‘The Victoria Cross – Australia Remembers’ book is a collection of very personal records.
“We gathered information from family members and other people who were close to the 96 Australian Victoria Cross Recipients who have sadly passed away.
“We also talk directly to Australia’s four VC recipients families.”
This book captures the personal experiences from people who lived with these men and those who remember them.
