New competition manager for league
The Ballarat Football Netball League (BFNL) has announced the appointment of a new Football Competition Manager, following the resignation of Scott Carey last year.
Matt Newton will replace the long-serving Carey, who stood down from the role of Football Competition Manager in October last year.
Following Mr Carey’s resignation, the league undertook an administration restructure. After a recruitment process, Newton accepted the role, and commenced on Monday 16 January.
General Manager Scott Anwyl said Mr Newton was most recently employed at Basketball Ballarat.
“He brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in both competition management and understanding of the needs and challenges of volunteers and community clubs,” he said.
With a new agreement signed with the MCDFNL, Tom McGregor will continue as Operations Manager and will further expend his management role by taking on the operations of the BFLWomens competition.
Mr Anwyl said this will ensure “more time and resources are dedicated to expending and building on the BFLW through 2023 and beyond.”
Gemma Murphy continues as netball manager for both the senior and junior BFNL competitions.
“Season 2023 will see exciting developments driven by Murphy in the pathway program to ensure that BFNL netball is the premier elite talent pathway for aspiring juniors,” Mr Anwyl said.
“The expertise of staff to support league clubs, the BFNL is well-placed to continue as one of the premier competitions in both the region, and country Victoria as a whole.”
