“RETIREMENT is a time to enjoy life, make new friends and explore new interests.”
That’s how Bacchus Marsh Ladies Probus Club publicity officer Barbara Nixon describes the group she’s a part of, and people are more than welcome to get involved.
“The Bacchus Marsh Ladies Probus Club is a vibrant and welcoming group that is always looking for new members to join in the fun,” Ms Nixon said.
“Whether you want to learn a new skill, explore a new hobby, or simply enjoy good company, there is something for everyone.”
New to the publicity role, Ms Nixon is working to boost awareness of the club and promote its existence and activities to the community.
“The club offers a welcoming environment where women can connect socially, listen to engaging guest speakers, and participate in a variety of activities,” she said.

“Probus provides retirees with the opportunity to maintain an active and fulfilling social life, which is more important than ever in today’s world.”
The club meets at The Avenue Bowling Club at 10am on the first Thursday of each month.
“Members can enjoy a range of activities including monthly guest speakers, occasional musical entertainment, and organised trips and outings,” Ms Nixon said.
“A dedicated welfare person ensures members receive support during times of illness or need.
“For those looking to enjoy casual conversation over a cup of coffee, members also gather every Monday at 1pm at the Village Mall for a friendly coffee chat.”

Ms Nixon said excursions are a popular highlight on the club calendar, with recent trips including a visit to the Convent Gallery in Daylesford and a shopping trip to The Mill.
“A favourite past excursion was to Van Loons Nursery near Ocean Grove, and some members are now looking forward to a four-day getaway to Echuca in April,” she said.
The club also organises a monthly dining event at a local or nearby restaurant.
“This provides a wonderful opportunity for members to experience new dining venues while enjoying great company,” Ms Nixon said.
