GREENDALE CFA will be one of the first seven brigades in Victoria to receive a new light tanker early in 2026.
The new Isuzu 2000-litre crew cab truck will replace the 21-year-old Greendale 2 vehicle.
“The smaller tanker can get us into tight places that the big tankers can’t reach, like bush tracks,” said second lieutenant and safety officer Brett Nicholson.
“The new tanker is also automatic which creates flexibility for members that don’t drive manuals regularly.”
The new light tankers have modern equipment and safety features, and aim to boost brigades’ efficiency on the fireground, whether an emergency is in a built-up area or a remote one.
Other vehicles at the station include an ultra-light Landcruiser and the larger, main tanker.

The well-maintained Greendale 2 truck will be sold, and the money will help fill the funding gap for the new light tanker. The State Government partially funds the cost of the vehicle.
Greendale CFA is always seeking donations and contributions from the community.
“We recently did a letterbox drop and we’ve raised close to $8000 as a result of that which is a significant step up on previous campaigns,” said community safety coordinator and treasurer Dana Hehir.
“We thank the Greendale community for their support. Those funds will also go towards our tanker.”
Member for Eureka Michaela Settle said the brigade’s volunteers give so much of their time to keep the community safe.

“This new vehicle will make a real difference in their work on the ground,” she said.
“I’m proud to see this investment delivering the tools and support our CFA members need, especially as we head into a challenging fire season.”
Ms Hehir said the brigade has a healthy juniors program that attracts young people from Bacchus Marsh to Gordon.
“Having a new light tanker means we can teach on the latest equipment, and it’s easy for our juniors when they do become 18 and go to a fire,” she said.
“We’re always looking for more junior members.”
Head to the CFA online donations page to give. Under the heading Brigade and Groups, fill in the form with your details putting Greendale as the Brigade and Truck Fundraiser as the purpose to ensure funds go directly to the local station.

Residents are encouraged to Get Fire Ready for the hot summer as grass dries, browns off, and becomes flammable.
“Make sure you’ve got plans in place, don’t expect a fire truck to come to your doorstep. Be prepared. There are resources on the CFA website,” Ms Hehir said.
“Come down and see us. We train at 9am on a Sunday or on the third Thursday of the month in the evening.”
Greendale CFA has over 20 active firefighters, and more members who support the brigade away from the fireground.
The station is at 34 Greendale-Myrniong Road, Greendale.
