New station upgrades out for comment
By Kate Taylor
Concept drawings for upgrades at the Ballan and the Bacchus Marsh train stations are out and residents are being encouraged to have a look and give their opinions on the designs.
A website has been launched to give residents the opportunity to provide feedback on the designs including station layouts, lighting and security, car parking, bike facilities and accessibility.
The website includes an online survey which will be open until 10 September.
Member for Buninyong, Geoff Howard, was at Ballan Station last Wednesday 30 August to promote the new concept drawings for the stations, which are part of the $518 million Ballarat Line Upgrade.
Mr Howard said that as well as large sections of duplicated track, new train stabling and additional passing loops along the line, Ballan and Bacchus Marsh stations will receive major upgrades.
“This includes second platforms, pedestrian links between platforms, new bicycle facilities and more car parking,” Mr Howard said.
Mr Howard will also be hosting his own community consultation, at Ballan & District Community House on Thursday 14 September from 11am – 1pm.
“No appointment is necessary and I welcome anyone who wishes to come along and provide their feedback about the proposals or to raise any other important state government matters or issues.”
