A roundabout at McCormacks Rd in Maddingley was officially opened last month, creating another component of the Western Link Road.

The roundabout is set to help ease traffic congestion and cater for growth in the Maddingley area, following the establishment of the Stonehill housing estate.

Mayor Paul Tatchell and Councillors John Keogh and Tonia Dudzik were joined by developers, contractors and community members on Thursday, 12 September to officially open the roundabout.

Cr Tatchell said that “we were delighted to officially open this $1.9 million project, funded by Council and developers”.

“The roundabout has created a safe crossing for vehicles, cyclists and pedestrians. It will help ease traffic congestion and cater for growth in the Maddingley area. And the landscaping looks fantastic,” he said.

Construction officially began in April this year, with the roundabout formalising the intersection of four individual roads, including McCormacks Road, Griffith Street, O’Leary’s Way and Bacchus Marsh–Balliang Road.
