Ballan residents will now be more in the know thanks to a new notice board outside the local library.

The new board will help advertise local programs and events in and around the Shire, including Baby Rhyme Time at the library; playgroups and pram walks; courses at the Community House and information to help inform and support the public.

The notice board frame was put together by Pete’s Welding, with the sculptural overlay being designed and created by Mt Egerton artist, Paul Blizzard.
The board picks up on the autumn leaf theme common to the town and complements the existing sculpture outside the Mechanic’s Institute, which was created many years ago by Paul’s father, Peter Blizzard.

The leaves surrounding the notice board comprise of letters of the alphabet that reflect the library and literacy theme. This is complimented by the famous Dr Seuss quote, “You can find magic wherever you look, sit back and relax, all you need is a book.”

The notice board was the last remaining project funded by the former Best Start Literacy Working Group.
