Operation Scoreboard
Victoria Police
We’ve got some fun facts for your Grand Final weekend, with the big match being contested by Geelong Cats v Sydney Swans
– Swans have a top speed of 88kmph
– Cats conserve energy by sleeping for an average of 13 hours a day.
So, while the Swans may have the speed, the Cats have been saving their energy so they can continue playing until they have a full squad of 300 gamers.
We’ve also got some not fun facts:
Victoria has recorded 182 lives lost on our roads so far in 2022 – that is 24 higher than 2021, and trending well above the five-year average of 166.
There has been a very concerning number of motorcyclist fatalities on our roads this year – we’re on track for a five-year high in motorcyclist deaths.
Operation scoreboard kicked off at midnight last night, and police will be on the road across the extra-long weekend.
Before you hit the road make sure you:
– leave your car at home and get public transport
– where you can take regular breaks while driving
– drive to conditions.
Remember: If you have been drinking, feeling sober is not a safe indicator of whether or not you are under the legal limit.
