“God bless little children while they’re still too young to hate”, is a line in the song ‘Old dogs, children and watermelon wine’, written and sung by Tom T. Hall in 1972, however it was a line also used by Mayor Paul Tatchell in his speech at a recent Citizenship ceremony.

“It is a great honour being Mayor and conducting these ceremonies,” he said.

“We are fortunate to have a multicultural country and community.”
