A STATE Government pilot program will allow Ballan residents to switch to energy efficient electric heat pump hot water systems through a State Electricity Commission home planner.

The pilot program includes a free digital platform where users complete a short survey about their home and energy usage and then a plan is created to help reduce energy bills.

It includes suggestions for suitable appliances, indicative costs, return on investment, government rebates, and emissions reductions.

Local households can receive a rebate of $1000 on their heat pump or solar hot water installation through the solar homes program and around $500 discount through the Victorian energy upgrades program.

“Households are at the heart of the energy transition and the SEC is giving Ballan residents additional support to save on their energy bills and switch to electric hot water,” said Member for Eureka Michaela Settle.

By upgrading to a heat pump households can reduce their energy bill by up to $250.

Ballan residents can browse a range of hot water heat pumps and connect with an SEC-endorsed local installer via the planner.

The planner can visit their home to provide a detailed quote and answer questions.
