THE outdoor pools at Bacchus Marsh and Ballan are set to open on Saturday 6 December, weather permitting.
During the school term dates, 6-19 December and 28 January to 9 March in the new year, the pools will open when the temperature hits 23 degrees and above from 3.30pm to 7pm.
The pools will remain closed if the temperature is lower, but if the temperature rises above 35 degrees, the pool opening hours will be extended to 8pm.
On weekends and during the summer school holidays, over 20 December to 27 January, the pools will be open from 11am to 7pm when the temperature is 23 degrees and above with opening hours extended to 8pm when the temperature rises above 35 degrees.
The Ballan Splash Park at 1 Mill Park Road is also set to start operating for the new summer season from 6 December.
“The Ballan Splash Park is controlled by a timer and will run daily from 10am to 7pm, starting December 6,” a Moorabool Shire Council spokeswoman said.
“These hours will remain consistent regardless of temperature, for example, the splash park will still operate even if the temperature is 18 degrees. It will be open every day, including public holidays and Christmas Day.”
The council spokeswoman said some special summer pool events are being planned for those aiming to keep cool during this summer season.
“Council’s Youth Services pool parties are at the Bacchus Marsh Outdoor Pool on Thursday 15 January and at the Ballan Outdoor Pool on Tuesday 20 January,” the spokeswoman said.
“Recruitment (for pool staff) has concluded and induction and training activities are underway for our lifeguards for the ’25-26 season. Pool commissioning is taking place now and progressing well, ahead of opening.”
