Put out campfires to avoid bushfires
DEWLP has said it has been great seeing thousands of people getting back out into the forests during the summer holidays.
A spokesperson has advised if you’re packing up your campsite, there are a few things to remember before you leave.
“Make sure you take the time to completely extinguish your campfire with water and check the area for rubbish,” they said.
“Campfires that aren’t fully extinguished can continue smouldering and it can take just one ember to cause a destructive bushfire.”
Unattended campfires should be reported to 136 186 with calls to Triple zero (000) to report a bushfire.
