Moorabool Shire Council is welcoming residents to visit a newly-completed stadium this weekend, with activities on for both adults and kids.

Community members are invited to take part in a Community Open Day celebration at the $17 million Moorabool Aquatic Recreation Centre (MARC) indoor stadium in Maddingley, the biggest facility of its kind in the shire.

Attendees can expect an array of free activities including adult and child-friendly Strength and Stretch classes, children’s disco and various ball sport demonstrations.

A sausage sizzle will be provided with a gold coin donation to the Belgravia Foundation, which aims to reduce participation barriers in sport and recreation.

Moorabool Shire Mayor Cr Ally Munari said it was fantastic to be able to welcome Moorabool residents to see and enjoy the new facility.

“We are thrilled to open the doors of the MARC stadium to the community and showcase the state-of-the-art facilities; it’s not just a stadium, but a hub for fitness, fun and community engagement,” she said.

Council has a three-year partnership with stadium operators, Belgravia Leisure, which will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the centre’s four indoor highball courts, two multi-program spaces and function room with kitchenette.

The community open day will be held on Saturday 20 January from 10am–1pm at the stadium located at 23A Taverner Street, Bacchus Marsh – right near Maddingley Park.
