Register your spa or pool
Do you have a pool or spa? Make sure you have it registered with Council, both for safety and to avoid a fine.
From 1 November 2020, all existing swimming pools and spas must be registered with Council, inspected, and a compliance certificate lodged with Council every four years.
New pools or spas must be registered within 30 days of receiving a certificate of final inspection.
Any pool or spa constructed on or before 30 June 1994 is now overdue for inspection and lodgement of a certificate of barrier compliance. Pools and spas constructed between 1 July 1994 and 30 April 2010 must be inspected and have a certificate lodged by 1 June 2023, while those constructed from 1 May 2010 to 31 October 2020 must have theirs lodged by 1 June 2024.
The mandatory registration applies to swimming pools or spas capable of holding 30 cm or more in water depth, such as in-ground and above ground pools and spas, and relocatable pools that have been erected for three or more days.
The pool registration fee is $31.80, and a pool inspection costs $437. For more information on requirements and registration fees, head to www.moorabool.vic.gov.au/pools-and-spas.
