The remains of missing man Brian Andrews have been found nearly 10-months after he was last seen at his Inglis Street home in Ballan.
Mansfield Police Sgt Mark Ross told the Moorabool News a deer hunter made the shock find in secluded bush in the Mansfield area on Monday September 25.
The 87-year-old, who lived alone, was last seen at about 1pm on December 7 last year.
His remains were reportedly found inside his stationary vehicle.
The Missing Person’s Unit have worked in conjunction with Moorabool Crime Investigations Unit, however the death is not being treated as suspicious.
A police spokesperson said the family were notified last week.
“We had to wait on forensic DNA to confirm the identity before releasing the body to the family.”
Peter Andrews, the son of Brian, told the Moorabool News it was a relief for the family.
The life of Brian Andrews will be celebrated at St Brigids Church in Ballan on Tuesday October 10 at 11am.
