Reminder – zero tolerance on fires

January 19, 2022 BY

The Fire Danger Period doesn’t end for another four months in Moorabool, and Parwan CFA have put out a call to be aware of the restrictions.

There will be a zero-tolerance approach from the CFA for those who burn off without a permit, with rulebreakers potentially facing fines of over $17,000 and/or 12 months imprisonment.

In addition, there are conditions for the use of barbeques and campfires, including but not limited to: the wind speed must be below 10 km/h, the fire must be lit in a properly constructed fireplace or a trench at least 30 centimetres deep, and a person must be in attendance at all times while the fire is alight.

There are also conditions for commercial catering fires, solid fuel barbeques (such as rotisseries), wildlife scare guns, driving vehicles through dry vegetation, using chainsaws, welding, incinerators, and using farm/road machinery.
