THE Gordon has made the decision to replace their 2024 Open Day with information nights, following recent data and community feedback.

The information nights will be trialled from August 6 until August 8 and will inform future planning for 2025, based on attendance, applications and feedback.

With the new format attendees will no longer need to give up their weekends, the information nights will be held during the working week.

Melissa Ginn recently attended an information night and enrolled in Fee-Free TAFE studies in youth work.

“I normally work on weekends, so going to an information session on a weeknight works best for me,” she said.

“It helped me feel comfortable with the campus location, what my course includes, career outcomes and learning support services.

“I also met my teacher – she is kinds, passionate about the course and I could tell I would be supported by her.”

Information nights saw a 63 per cent increase in registrations compared to the TAFE’s 2023 Open Day data, with course applications increasing by 86 per cent.

The Gordon’s executive director of growth and student experience Peter McKinnon said August is a busy month, making it overwhelming for future students with a range of open days taking place, often on the same weekend.

“Information nights are a great way for people to get in, ask the questions they want and get the answers they need.

“We’ve got presentations and demonstrations happening to help you discover your preferred industry and course area.”

Certificates I – IV, diplomas, advanced diplomas, apprenticeships and traineeships are available at The Gordon across a range of industries.

Some growth areas are also eligible for Fee-Free TAFE, such as health and science, construction trades and information technology.

To find out more about the possibilities for the future, head to an information night at The Gordon on:

  • Tuesday, August 6 – Geelong City Campus
  • Wednesday, August 7 – East Geelong Campus
  • Thursday, August 8 – Werribee Campus.

Sessions begin at 5pm.
