Reverse the receiving, to giving

November 17, 2021 BY

Grabbing an extra item or two in your shopping over the next few weeks will not only help fill a box, but it will help provide a household with a bit of Christmas cheer.

This year sees the return of the Reverse Advent Calendar (RAC) and it is coming to a church near you namely, St Andrews Uniting Church Bacchus Marsh.

Overall, there are 3500 boxes printed and ready for distribution across the State with the local Uniting Church in Gisborne Road offering to coordinate the distribution of empty boxes in the Moorabool Shire.

Many children enjoy receiving an Advent Calendar because they get a treat each day in the countdown to Christmas. Whereas a Reverse Advent Calendar focuses on giving rather than receiving.

Beginning with an empty box individuals, families, schools and other groups place one item into the box (non-perishable food, toiletries, Christmas treats) each day from late November through to mid-December. Once full, it is returned to the church ready for distribution.
