SOCCER, football, netball and cricket clubs are just some of the sporting teams set to benefit from the opening of the latest stage of the Bacchus Marsh Racecourse and Recreation Reserve redevelopment.

Stage two of the works include four new tennis and netball courts, two new soccer pitches within a cricket oval, all with lighting, plus perimeter fencing and player shelters.

Families will also be able to make use of an all abilities accessible playspace featuring a spinning dish, a sensory and sound area, a flying fox and a sand pit with a sand table.

Junior play equipment, climbing nets, three trampolines and swings are additions to the reserve too.

State Member for Eureka Michaela Settle was joined by Moorabool Shire mayor Cr Ally Munari and Bacchus Marsh Cricket Club president David Kraljik to officially open the new facilities.

“The new courts, accessible playspace, soccer pitches and lighting at the park create more opportunity for local clubs to grow their sports and provide the dedicated facilities for local families to stay active and healthy,” Ms Settle said.

Backed by $5.25 million from the State Government and a contribution of more than $7.6 million by Moorabool Shire, the renewal project will be completed with the construction of a six-wicket cricket training facility and another football and cricket oval with lighting later this year.

Stage one wrapped up in early 2021 and included a new pavilion and playing field, BMX track, access roads and car parks.
