Road safety operation wraps up
VICTORIA POLICE
Our Easter and ANZAC long weekend road safety operation (Compass) has officially wrapped up – with almost 13,000 traffic offences handed out.
Sadly, there were 5 lives lost across the period – including 4 pedestrians. There is an increased risk of pedestrian collisions as winter approaches, so please watch out for each other as visibility reduces and weather conditions worsen.
Concerningly, there were 445 drink driving offences and 410 drug driving offences detected during the operation.
With 83 lives lost on Victorian roads this year and a rainy weekend coming up, we’re asking everyone to take care, drive to the conditions and watch out for each other.
