MORE than $10 million worth of upgrades to Darley Primary School have been completed ahead of schedule.

The facility was modernised with a new administration building, the upgrade and extension of a classroom block to create a new learning community, the part demolition of the main block and a relocatable building, and the movement of another relocatable building.

The extension added two new classrooms and an art room.

“When you walk in, the architectural design and colours just brings a warmth to the purpose-built space,” Darley Primary School principal Fiona Kerton said.

“They are no longer feeling crowded and outdated, and the kids are engaged in their learning.

“To have the collaborative break-out spaces through the middle of the building just adds to the learning environment.”

The construction was initially expected to be completed in September 2025.

The project was funded by the State Government with more than $10 million allocated in the 2022 to 2023 state budget.

Member for Eureka Michaela Settle visited the site last week to celebrate the project’s completion.

“Darley Primary School has been part of this community for a long, long time, but it needed some more love in the buildings,” she said.

“The teaching staff here, the principal here are wonderful, and they do an extraordinary job, but to have those facilities to support their teaching is so important.”
