Shape live music future – take the survey

December 14, 2021 BY

The call is out for all live music performers and attendees to fill out a survey from Music Victoria, and help the live music industry get back on its feet.

Music Victoria is an independent, not-for-profit organisation that advocates for the Victorian music community, to develop and promote our state’s music industry.

As part of the Victorian Live Music Census and Infrastructure Audit 2021, Music Victoria wants to hear from music industry practitioners, performs and attendees.

The anonymous surveys aim to identify what was great about the live music scene in 2019, and what was ‘lost’ during the pandemic in 2020 and 2021.

The survey data will help Music Victoria put real figures on live music’s value for local tourism, jobs, and economic development, and identify challenges and areas that need more funding.

The last Live Music Census in 2017 identified Melbourne as the “live music capital of the word”, with 18 million fans generating over $1.7 billion in revenue and generations thousands of jobs.

The 2017 contributed to the $22 million Music Works program, and the ‘Agent of Change’ planning provisions to protect live music venues from residential encroachment.

Your participation in these surveys can help revitalise the Victorian live music scene after a tough couple of years.
