Signs, signs everywhere a sign

“If the tunnel workers shouldn’t be exposed to those levels of PFAS, then you shouldn’t be exposed to those levels of PFAS” – those were the impassioned words of just one of many speakers at a community rally against the dumping of contaminated soil in Bacchus Marsh.
Colleen Hartland, from the National Toxic Network, was addressing a 1,500 strong crowd gathered at a community rally.
Held at the Village Green by the Bacchus Marsh Community Coalition on Tuesday 10 March, the crowd covered every age demographic – even babies were brought along.
All of Moorabool’s East Ward Councillors attended, including Mayor David Edwards – Liberal Senator Bev McArthur was there, as were local people who spoke on the night.
Kat Barlow, rally organiser said the community shouldn’t have been there that night – they should have been at home with their families.
“Tonight, we are expressing our anger and frustration. Our community is not a toxic waste dump, this is where our food grows and our children go to school, why would the government risk an important food source. Our community doesn’t want this, doesn’t deserve this.
“Dan Andrews – your silence is deafening,” she said.
