Soaking up the occasion

Supporters of a new indoor pool in Moorabool have showed up in numbers at the opening of a new stadium, calling on the Federal Government to invest in the project.
A Community Open Day for the new indoor stadium in Taverner Street, Bacchus Marsh was held on Saturday, and community advocacy group MooraPool made use of the occasion to show Canberra just how much the community wants an indoor pool added.
The proposed indoor pool has had $25 million committed by Moorabool Shire Council and the State Government, but the Federal Government has so far failed to provide the final $15 million needed.
And so, among those enjoying the Community Open Day activities such as volleyball, a jungle gym, and a DJ, were close to 100 locals calling on the Federal Government to provide the final piece of the puzzle.
MooraPool spokesperson Dale Missen said it was fantastic to see so many people answer the group’s call to get involved.
“It was incredible to see a large number of excited locals attend the official community opening of the Moorabool Aquatic Recreation Centre on Saturday, albeit confused as to where the indoor aquatic pool was. However, after having enjoyable conversations with so many, seeing the plans and the flyover videos, all are very excited to see the indoor pool come to fruition,” Mr Missen told the Moorabool News.
“We, MooraPool, are a group of growing members that currently includes local parents, educators, and health providers who appreciate the work done by local groups like ourselves over the past 40 years, wanting a better future for our families in this town and we intend to be the last push to get this campaign over the line.”
Mr Missen also thanked Moorabool Shire Councillors, and local State MPs Michaela Settle and Steve McGhie for their support of the cause.
“Locals have been impressed by our daily segment of ‘Talking Pools with MooraPool’ shared on our MooraPool Facebook page, enjoying the opportunity to share and read others’ messages on how the indoor pool will benefit them, their families and their sporting clubs.” he added.
