Spooky fun for all
AN evening of spooky activities, costumes and trick or treating will be on offer at Mount Egerton Recreation Reserve this Saturday.
Committee member Kathryn Long said the event is an opportunity for community members new and old to gather.
“We are a very small community and there isn’t a lot that goes on because we don’t have any sporting clubs or large community groups,” she said.
“It’s a really good way to get the community together because we’ve had a lot of new faces into the town as well so it’s a good way for new people to meet their neighbours.
“We’ve found that it’s been really good for getting connection in the town.”
The event, which starts at 5pm, will also include a barbecue, sweet treats, a haunted house, fire pits and a pumpkin carving competition.
This is the second year the committee has run the event, and the group has plans to upgrade the area.
“We did it last year and we want it to be an ongoing event because we are quite a new committee,” Ms Long said.
“We are constantly trying to raise funds to upgrade the rec reserve, and the community’s help in raising funds is always welcome.”
