A COMMUNITY Road Safety Strategy for Moorabool Shire will be developed following a State Government funding allocation.

Member for Eureka Michaela Settle said $46,500 from the Transport Accident Commission’s Local Government Grant Program has been awarded to the municipality.

As the current Community Road Safety Strategy is almost out of date, the grant funds will aim to cover the development of a revised plan with Safe System principles.

The strategy is expected to consider past local road accidents and to strive to prevent similar incidents involving cars and other vehicles, cyclists and pedestrians.

Community consultation with local police, residents and grassroots groups will also inform the document.

“It is great to see Moorabool Shire Council, with the support of the State Government, working towards safer roads for our community,” Ms Settle said.

The Transport Accident Commission’s Local Government Grant Program backs projects which will aim to prevent road trauma, especially for those riding bikes and out on foot.

Applications for the 2025 Local Government Grant Program will open next month. Visit tac.vic.gov.au/about-the-tac/community/grants/local-government-grants for more information.
