Food banks have been working hard to supply the hungry this year and COVID-19 hasn’t helped.
The pandemic has brought with it, financial insecurity, meaning the amount of people applying for food relief has been on the increase. Food Bank Australia have been under serious pressure – national requests from the organisation have increased from their average of around 815,000 a month to 1.2 million. In the months ahead, particularly with JobSeeker and JobKeeper set to end on September 27, Moorabool’s own food bank ‘The Neighbour’s Place’ will need extra food and funding to keep up with the demand.
